A magnitude-6.3 earthquake has shaken southern Alaska and was felt by some people in Anchorage and Kodiak.

A magnitude-6.3 earthquake has shaken southern Alaska and was felt by some people in Anchorage and Kodiak.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake struck near Redoubt Volcano on the Kenai Peninsula, 225 kilometressouthwest of Anchorage, at about 6:35 p.m. AT on Tuesday.

The broadcasterKTUUreports that people across south-central Alaska said they felt the quake.

A dispatcher at the Anchorage Police Department said they've had no reports of injuries or major damage.
