30 community members search for Mark Lynn in Dettah

Community members in Dettah, N.W.T., are out on the land searching for Mark Lynn today.

The 21-year-old was last seen on the evening of Aug. 24 near the lagoon area of Dettah, travelling by foot. He was reported missing on Aug. 28. RCMP have searched the area and asked anyone with information about Lynn's disappearance to contact them.

On Thursday, about 30 people from Dettah and neighbouring communities searched in the lagoon area and the nearby cemetery.Two of the volunteers had dogs with them, andLynn's mother hadone sniff her son's hat.

Chief Ernest Betsina asked people to try and keep calm if they find anything during the search.

"Make some noise and we will come and help you," he told searchers on Thursday morning.

RCMP officers were also in Dettah this morning. They told volunteers that they've already done searches with drones and by foot patrol.

RCMP said they found some items during their search, but would not elaborate.

Lynn is described as an Aboriginal male of medium build, five feet, 10 inches tall, weighing 167 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
