Last wooden bridge on major road in Yukon set for replacement

The Nares River bridge, built in 1970 and nearing the end of its life cycle, will be replaced with a concrete version. The project will take three years.

The Nares River Bridge in Carcross, Yukonthe last wooden bridge on a major highway in the territory will be replaced.

The contract will be tendered late this summer, the government said in a news release.

Known locally as Naataase Hen Bridge, the government plans to spend $1.5 million this year to begin the three year project.

The wooden bridge was built in 1970, and is nearing the end of its life-cycle, the government said.

Itwill be replaced with a concrete version.
