The 45-year-old's body was found in a gazebo in the community in January 2014. Cholo had been missing since mid-December. RCMP ruled his death a homicide.

On Friday, RCMP announced that an arrest had been made in Fort Simpson, but no charges had been laid.

Now they confirm that the person has been released.

It's unclear how long the individual was in custody, or why they were arrested.

The three-year-old case is still top of mind for many in Fort Simpson.

"For an incident like this, the family, they certainly would like to have closure to this," said Gerry Antoine, chief of the Liidlii Kue First Nation.

"I certainly support the family to have this case and file resolved."

In Friday's news release, the RCMP stated that they "believe there are witnesses with crucial information who have yet to come forward," and urged anyone with information to contact Fort Simpson RCMP or Crimestoppers to help with the investigation.
