Sanikiluaq, Nunavut boil water advisory continues

The Hudson Bay hamlet has been under a boil water advisory since August 15 after trace amounts of E. coli and coliform were found during routine water sampling.

Sanikiluaq is still under a boil water advisory.

It's been in place since August 15 after trace amounts of E. coli and coliform were found during routine water sampling.

Last week, Nunavut's Chief Medical Officer of Health said boiled water should be used for anything that's consumed, like drinking water, making baby formula, brushing teeth, cooking and washing vegetables.

Water needs to be brought to a boil for at least a minute.

The Health Department says the water needs to pass two sets of water tests before the advisory is lifted.

Sanikiluaq, pop. 850, is Nunavuts southernmost community, located on the Belcher Islands in Hudson Bay.
