Search continues around Bloody Falls for overdue Kugluktuk hunter

A search continues for Allen Kudlak Jr., a hunter reported overdue in Kugluktuk, Nunavut. Kudlak was reported missing to the RCMP on Friday Aug. 12.

A search continuesfor a hunter reported overdue in Kugluktuk, Nunavut, after stormyweather in the community grounded search crews Monday night.

RCMPsay AllenKudlakJr. left the community on Thursday Aug. 11, travelling on his ATV with a rifle, but potentially no other supplies or equipment.

He was reported missing to the RCMP the following day when he failed to return home.

"We are [currently] searching the land and water around, and beyond,Kuglukterritorial parkor Bloody Falls," said Cpl. Jean LucBedard, theRCMPdetachment commander inKugluktuk.

Local search and rescue started searching forKudlakon Saturdaywhen his ATV was found inKuglukterritorial park, about10 kilometres southwestof the community.

The search now includes 11ATVsand one boat.

Bedardsaid it's not known whetherKudlak had any GPS or survival equipment with him, but has said that heis believed to be an outdoor enthusiast who knows the land well.
