Unruly Canadian North passenger gets 3 days in jail

A Nunavutwoman has been sentenced to three days in jail for an incident aboard a Canadian North flight in March.

HelenEvaglok, 50, was charged under the federal Aeronautics Act for unruly and dangerous behaviour.

She and another woman allegedly brought alcohol on board and began drinking in the washroom while the flight was en route from Yellowknife to Cambridge Bay.

Canadian North say amale flight attendant was physically accosted when he approached them.

The flight landed in Kugluktuk, where the pair were taken into custody. Passengers faced a four-hour delay as the plane returned to Yellowknife to pick up anothercrew member before proceeding to Cambridge Bay. At the time, the airline said returning to Yellowknife before going on to Cambridge Bay cost it about $20,000.

Evaglokoriginally faced three other charges consuming liquorthat was not served by the airline, mischief causing damage over $5,000, and causing a disturbance but last week those charges were withdrawn.
