Whitehorse dog poisoning: 4th incident under investigation

Whitehorse RCMP are reporting another possible dog poisoning in the community.

Two dogs died and another got sick back in March after they consumed consumed strychnine, a toxin oftenfound in rat poison,in the city's Porter Creek neighbourhood.

According to police, another Porter Creek residentreported their dog seemed healthy Monday night, but could not walk properly on Tuesday morning.The dog was given a blood transfusion and is now recovering.

The veterinarianthat treated the dog told the family thathe hadconcerns the dog was the victim of a slow-acting poison.

The family cannot pinpoint where the poisoning might have occurred, saying that they live in Porter Creek'sNinth Avenue area, but walk their dog in various parts of the neighbourhood and wooded areas surrounding the subdivision.

Kona's Coalition, a local pet advocate organization,has offered a reward for any information that leads to an arrest.
