Whitehorse mayor to fly to Yellowknife to promote Air North route

Whitehorse Mayor Dan Curtis and Yukon tourism minister Elaine Taylor are heading to Yellowknife in October to promote Air North's service between the capital cities.

Whitehorse MayorDan Curtis and Yukon tourism minister Elaine Taylor are heading to Yellowknife in Octoberto promoteAir North's service between thecapital cities.

The Yukon-based airlinebegan flying twice a week betweenWhitehorse, Yellowknife and Ottawa in February 2014.

Curtis says the trip is aimed at drumming up supportfor the route from businesses and from theN.W.T.

"I think it's anopportunity for businesses and for Air North, and for people to realize what a great connect it is," he said.

The Yukon Chamber of Commerce and the Yukon Department of Economic Development are jointly sponsoring the trip.

Chamber members are being offered discount airfareif they want to participate.

The trip is planned for Oct. 1-2.
