Deuling is alleged to have indecently assaulted Mitchell twice between 1981 and 1983 in Whitehorse.

The court has not put a publication ban on the alleged victim's name.

Lastyear, Mitchell launched a civil lawsuitagainstDeuling, saying he was her former teacher. She's suing Deuling and the Yukon government for sexual abuse she alleges started when Deuling was her Grade 4 teacher at Jack Hulland Elementary School, "in or about"1978. She alleges the abusecontinued into the 1980s.

Her statement of claim was filed in Yukon Supreme Court in March 2018.

In his statement of defence filed in the civil case, Deuling has denied all allegations of sexual abuse.

The Yukon Government has not yet filed its statement of defence in that case.
