Whitehorse thieves make off with Habitat For Humanity cash box

RCMP in Whitehorse are looking for two suspects who fled in a stolen truck, after a cash box was stolen from a Habitat For Humanity ticket table at Canadian Tire on Friday.

RCMP in Whitehorse are looking for two suspects who fled in a stolen truck, after a cash box was stolen from a Habitat For Humanity ticket table at Canadian Tire on Friday. (RCMP)

Whitehorse RCMPhave released photos of one of thesuspectswho made off with a Habitat For Humanitycash box on Friday afternoon.

Police say a man grabbed the cash box, containing about $500, from a Habitat For Humanityticket table set up at Canadian Tire. He then ran out of the store into a waiting vehicle.

When RCMP found the vehicle on Sumanik Drive near Valleyview, thetwo suspects abandoned the truck and ran into the greenbelt. Police were unable to find them.

The truck, a green 1994 Ford Ranger,had been reported stolen two weeks earlier in Dawson City.

Police are still investigating and appealing to the public for help.

The suspects are described as a man and a woman, both Caucasian in appearance andapproximately 20 years old. The man was slender with black hair and black clothes.

The woman had a black ponytail and was wearing an orange tank top.
