Yellowknife goats saved from dinner table by admirer and local vet

Teresa Michalski came to Matilda and Borek's rescue when the last two downtown goats needed a new place to live after their owners moved out of town.

When Yellowknife's last two downtown goatsneeded a new place to live after their owners moved out of town,TeresaMichalskicame toMatildaandBorek'srescue.

The goatscould have ended up on someone's dinner plate, butMichalskifoundthem anew home with local veterinarian TomPisz.

Michalski hasbeen feeding and helping to look after the goats for years, after their previous owners first brought a pair north to live in their downtown yard in 2011.

"They are nice goats," she said.

"They were born in Yellowknife and I want to keep them alive. In Yellowknife we don't have farm animals and they are young and I want them to have a long and happy life."

Michalskifeeds them with waste vegetables donated by the downtown Your Independent Grocer.

Borek has been ill since the move to Pisz'sfrom downtown, so Michalski is currently fundraising to help pay for the medical bills and to help build the goats a bigger enclosure.
