Yukon launches registry for people without doctors

The Yukon Government launched an online registry Thursday for people who dont have a family doctor.

Pat Living, a spokesperson with the Department of Health and Social Services, said the registry will help the government decide exactly how many doctors are needed in the territory.

People who don't have access to a computer will still be able to register.

"We will be doing a print campaign so people can either clip the form out and mail it to us or drop it off at our offices," she said.

"We're also working with some of our own staff who work one-on-one with clients and asking them to work with their folks who may not have a doctor and get their information back to us."

Living said the government is currently working on a strategy to recruit and retain more doctors.
