Here's what's happening in Yukon:

Dawson City Music Festival

What: One of Yukon's biggest musical events of the yeartakes over Dawson City this weekend. The 38th annual Dawson City Music Festival features more than 25 bandseverything from indie pop to electronic beats to bluegrass and rockabilly.

The headliner is The Wet Secrets from Edmonton. Jim Bryson isalso in the lineup, along with Hot Panda, Jenn Grant, Terra Lightfoot, Sarah Jane Scouten, Leonard Sumner and Kristi Lane Sinclair. Local acts will be front and centre too, including Major Funk and the Employment, Old Cabin, Rob Dickson, Sarah Hamilton and others.

Something for kids, too!

There's always something for the wee ones at the Dawson City Music Festival. This year, "KIDSFest" features a performance by award-winning children's performer, Ginalina, from Vancouver. There's also face-painting, arts, crafts, games and dancing. That'sSaturdayat the Mainstage, from11 a.m. to 2 p.m.It's free to the public and doesn't require a festival pass. That's followed by a performance by Yukon Girls Rock Camp.

Chance to see cool collaborations

Don't miss the workshops at DCMF.

They're more like mini-concerts members of different bands are matched up to play jam sessions and song circles with a variety of themes and genres. It's a chance to see some of your favourite performers in a more intimate venue and catch some cool collaborations.

Lots of vendors and artisans will be set up in Minto Park too, in an area that's open to the public, not just festival-goers. More than 15 artisans, craft and food vendors will be there, plus there's a gallery space featuring work by Dawson City artists, somerecycled clothing, jewelry and more.

Autumn in Tombstone Park

What: Summer is not over yet but Nicole Bauberger will have you thinking ahead to fall. Her show, "Autumn in Tombstone Park", opened this week in Dawson City. It's an exhibition of her paintings, featuring works from her stint as artist-in-residence at Tombstone Territorial Park.

You can also see an exhibition by Louise Levitt called "Dawson Dolls".Levittmakes her winter home in Toronto, and her summer home in Rock Creek, just outside of Dawson.

"She worked at making thedolls all winter, and the incredible level of detail shows the hours of work involved," saidstudio owner Leslie Chapman.

Yukon Pioneer families

What: The Yukon Commissioner's Office and the MacBride Museum are featuring a series of historical presentations,Tuesdays on the lawn of the Taylor House (now the Office of the Commissioner of the Yukon).

The series features the stories and historical photographs from six local families who have had an impact onthe development of the Yukon over the past century.

All talks are free and everybody is welcome to attend.
