$235M in road improvements planned for next fiscal year

Work that includes the twinning of a section of Highway 104 and a new highway in southwestern Nova Scotia are among the road improvements planned for the province beginning in the next fiscal year.

The Transportation Department released its highway improvement plan for 2014-15, which budgets $235 million in work.

That includes the twinning of Highway 104 in Antigonish, building a new highway in Port Mouton and improvements to the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton.

Transportation Minister Geoff MacLellan said the provincial government will also continue discussions with Ottawa to extend twinning of Highway 103 and complete Highway 101.
