Alfie MacLeod's left foot removed due to 'serious infection'

Cape Breton MLA Alfie MacLeods left foot has been removed as a result of a serious infection.

MacLeod plans to resume his MLA duties as soon as possible

Cape Breton MLA Alfie MacLeods left foot has been removed as a result of a serious infection.

The details of the infection havent been released, but MacLeod is expected to make a full recovery.

Iwant to thank my constituents for their patience during this time, he said in a news release. Everyones kind words of support and encouragement have been very uplifting.I am committed to a full recovery and resuming my MLA duties as soon as possible. Ilook forward to seeing you all soon."

MacLeods office remains open with regular business hours during his absence.

MacLeod, 58, represents the district of Sydney River-Mira-Louisbourg. He is receiving treatment atthe Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney.
