Burnside jail inmate stabbed in his sleep: Halifax police

Two men are in hospital after a disturbance at the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility in Burnside this morning, according to Halifax Regional Police.

Two inmates at the Central NovaScotiaCorrectional Facilityare in hospital today after one of themallegedly stabbed the other while he slept.

Halifax police saya 45-year-old man crept into the cell of a 23-year-old inmate around 8:45 a.m. on Sunday and began stabbing him "with some type of sharp object."

A group of other inmates witnessed itand then began to attack the 45-year-old inmate, say investigators.

Police say the 23yearold has a number of lacerations, but none are life threatening. They said the older man has several stab wounds and other serious injuries but he's expected to recover.

Halifax police say they're looking into the incident.
