N.S. reports 25 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday

With 25 new cases of COVID-19 reported on Friday, the province now has 234 active cases.

Nova Scotia reported 25 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the total number of known active cases down to 234.

Seventeenof the new cases are in the central zone, four are in the eastern zone, three are in the northern zone and one is in the western zone.

There are 15 people in hospital with COVID-19, including four in intensive care.

The province announced Friday it will closeDuc d'AnvilleElementary in Halifax next week to contain the spread of COVID-19 at the school, where 14 cases have been discovered. Students will learn from home next week and will require a negative COVID-19 test before they return on Oct. 18.

Two schools were notified of exposures on Thursday. A full list of schools that have had cases can be found here.

As of Friday, 75.9per cent of Nova Scotians are fully vaccinated.

Labs in the province processed 3,740 tests on Thursday.

Atlantic Canada COVID-19 case numbers

  • New Brunswickreported 130 new cases and two deaths on Friday.The province has881active cases and31people in intensive care. New Brunswick is in a 14-day circuit breaker, which includeslimiting Thanksgiving gatherings to single households.
  • Newfoundland and Labradorreported eight new cases on Friday.The province has 112 active cases, and 14people are in hospital.
  • Prince Edward Islandreported three new cases on Thursday, and has nine active cases.
