Nova Scotia reports no new COVID-19 cases Saturday

The province reported no new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday. There are three active cases in the province with one person hospitalized and in intensive care.

Nova Scotia is reporting no new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday.

The Nova Scotia Health Authority did not identify any new cases of COVID-19 in testingon Friday. There were 745 tests completed, bringing the number of negative tests overall to 96,701.

There are still three known active cases in the province. One person is in intensive care with the virus.

The Department of Health and Wellness announced Friday that it will no longer issue news releases on weekends unless a new caseis identified.

The province'sCOVID-19 websitewill continue to be updated on Saturdays and Sundays, even when no new cases are discovered.

The latest case was announced on Friday. It was identified in the province's central zone andis related to travel outside of Atlantic Canada. The person has been self-isolating as required.

The province also announced on Friday that it is renewing its state of emergency until at least Oct. 18.

N.L. case hasHalifax connection

Newfoundland and Labrador reported one new case of COVID-19 and it has a Halifax connection. A man in his 60s who travelled to Canada from Central Africa on Sept. 29 died while self-isolating on Oct. 1.

Health officials say the mantravelled to Newfoundland and Labradoron Wednesday, Sept.30, 2020. He travelled from Toronto to Halifax on Air Canada Flight 604, and from Halifax to Deer Lake on Air Canada Flight 8876.

N.L. health officials say the man waspresymptomatic during travel. They said while the risk is low,people who travelled on Air Canada Flight 8876 departing Halifax for Deer Lake on Wednesday, Sept.30 should self-monitor for symptoms.

The latest numbers from around the Atlantic bubble are:

  • New Brunswickreported one new caseand six active cases Saturday and is monitoring an outbreak in Maine. The new case is not connected to that outbreak in Baileyville, near St. Stephen.
  • Newfoundland and Labradorreported one new case of COVID-19 on Saturday. The case was travel-related. The case aman in his 60s died while in self-isolation. Hehad recently travelled to Canada from Central Africa.He travelled from Toronto to Halifax on Air Canada Flight 604and from Halifax to Deer Lake on Air Canada Flight 8876. The province has three known active cases.
  • P.E.I.reported one new case and had two active cases on Tuesday.

  • Fever.
  • Cough or worsening of a previous cough.

Anyone with two or more of the following symptoms is also asked to visit the 811 website:

  • Sore throat.
  • Headache.
  • Shortness of breath.
  • Runny nose.
