Dave Wilson announces bid for NDP leadership

Dave Wilson kicked off his bid to lead Nova Scotia's NDP at a fire hall in Lower Sackville.

Dave Wilson has thrown his name in the ring to be the next leader of Nova Scotia's New Democratic Party.

Wilson announced his intentions at a fire hall in Lower SackvilleSunday afternoon.

Wilson, who represents Sackville-Cobequid, was first elected in 2003.

He is a former paramedic.

The NDP has been without a permanent leader since Darrell Dexter quit in Nov.2013 after a crushing defeat in the provincial election.

Maureen MacDonaldhas been the acting leader since Dexter's departure.

Gary Burrill, a former MLA, has also announced his plans to run.
