2nd-degree murder charge laid in Hammonds Plains homicide

Nova Scotia RCMP have charged Stephen Beckett, 45,ofHammonds Plains, N.S., with second-degree murder in the case of a woman who died at a homein the community.

Nova Scotia RCMP have charged Stephen Beckett, 45, of Hammonds Plains, N.S., with second-degree murder in the death of Tracey MacKenzie.

Officers were called to a home on Glen Arbour Way around 2:40 p.m. Thursday where they found MacKenzie's body.

They arrested Beckett at the scene. He was taken into custody without incident, according to a press release.

Chris Hansen, spokesperson for the Public Prosecution Service, called the case a domestic homicide.

The RCMP investigation into the incident is continuing.
