Digby County woman, 79, killed in collision on Highway 101

Nova Scotia RCMP say the crash happened near the Marshalltown exit on Thursday afternoon. Two vehicles collided in the eastbound lane. Police are looking to speak with witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage.

A 79-year-old woman from Plympton, N.S., was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 101 near the Marshalltown exit on Thursday afternoon.

Nova Scotia RCMP said in a news release thatfirst responders were called to the crash site at 4:05 p.m. They found that a black Dodge Ram 1500 truck and a red Chevrolet Trax SUVhad collided in the eastbound lane.

The woman had been driving the SUV.

Police said the driver of the truck had seriousbut not life-threatening injuries. He was taken to hospital.

There were no passengers in either vehicle, police said.

The highway was closed for several hours with traffic rerouted around the Digby and Marshalltown exits. That stretch of road has since reopened.
