Man stabbed, dog grazed by bullet in separate Sunday incidents

A man was stabbed and a dog was grazed by a bullet in two separate incidents in the Halifax area on Sunday.

At 6:45 p.m. Halifax Regional Police were called to the area of Thistle Street and Wyse Road in Dartmouth where they found a 40-year-old man with a stab wound to his abdomen.

He told police seven teens surrounded him and asked for cigarettes and then one of them, a male,stabbed him with a knife.

After the stabbing, the teens ran away with the man's backpack.

Paramedics took the man to hospital. He is expected to survive. Police say they don't believe it was a random incident.

Shots fired near Duffus Street

In a second incident, police responded to reports of multiple shots fired into a house inthe area of Duffus Street and Jarvis Lane in Halifax.

Police say the owner of thehouse told them bullets were shot into alower level bedroom in her house. There were two people and a dog in the room at the time. The people were not injured but a dog was grazed by a bullet. Police say they do not believe the incident was random.

Police say a suspect was seen running north from the area.

No arrests have been made in either case.
