Lake Banook searchers find body of missing swimmer

Halifax Regional Police say a dive team has found the body of a 58-year-old man who drowned inLake Banook.

His body was found around 5 p.m. Sunday after hours of searching.

Halifax police say they were called around 12:00 p.m. to help search for a swimmer who went under near Birch Cove Beach.

Fire division commander Peter Andrews says by 12:30 p.m. the rescue operation turned to one of recovery.

Andrews saidHalifax Fire used two boats in the water to look for the swimmer.

An RCMPdive team from Moncton was also called in to assist.

Halifax police have not released the man's name.
