Mel Boutilier launches north end Halifax thrift shop

Mel Boutilier, well known in the past for his work with the Parker Street Food and Furniture Bank, has started a new thrift store.

Proceeds will go to funding tuition and education support for young people in the community

A year after stepping away from his position at the Parker Street Food and Furniture Bank, Mel Boutilier is back with a new project. (CBC)

Mel Boutilier, well known in the past for his work with the Parker Street Food and Furniture Bank, has opened a new thrift store.

The Metro Care and Share Thrift Shop is located on Agricola Street and all of the proceeds from the store will go to funding tuition and education support for young people in the community.

The shop had its grand opening Sunday.

Last year, Boutilier stepped down from his position of the Parker Street Food and Furniture Bank, an organization he founded in 1983.
