Nova Scotia in store for another day of stormy weather

Another winter storm started moving across Nova Scotia Thursday morning and is expected to make for messy conditions for afternoon rush hour.

It's the second stormy weather day in a row for the province, following wet snowfall Wednesday morning.

CBC meteorologist Tina Simpkin said the storm started moving in from the west Thursday morning. Snowfall amounts are expected to reachabout five to 10 centimetres across much of theprovince and closer to 15 centimetres near the Atlantic coast.

Many schools across the province pre-emptively closed Thursday morning, or announced plans for early dismissals.

The heaviest of snow will begin near noon in western Nova Scotia, and this afternoon heavy snow will fall on the eastern mainland and Cape Breton, Simpkin said.

The snow is expected to end throughout the evening, again starting in the west and moving east.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the Halifax area, where roads could become difficult to navigate in the afternoon, making for"a challenging afternoon commute."
