Paramedic accused in sex assaults released on bail

A paramedic accused of sexually assaulting two patients has been released on bail.

James Duncan Keats, 47, of Kentville is accused of sexually assaulting a 32-year-old woman suffering chest pains on a Halifax Metro Transit Bus in Bedford last January.

He's also accused of assaulting a 71-year-old woman on two occasions; once in her home, and once in an ambulance.

Keats is under a nighttime curfew, is ordered to stay away from his alleged victims, and is forbidden from working any job providing medical care.

He will be back in court in July to enter pleas to the charges.

Keats has been a paramedic with Emergency Medical Care since 1995. He was suspended with pay after the first charges against him came to light.
