Accident on work site in Queensland leaves 1 person dead

A person was killed on a Department of Transportation work site in Queensland, N.S., on Thursday afternoon following a collision with a vehicle.

'This is a terrible tragedy,' Transportation Department spokesperson says

A person was killed on a Department of Transportation work site in Queensland, N.S., on Thursday afternoon following a collision with a vehicle.

According to RCMP, the accident happened shortly after 3 p.m. on St. Margarets Bay Road, whichis expected to be closed for several hours. Traffic is being detoured via Conrads Road.

In an email statement, Transportation Department spokesperson Marla MacInnis said officials are "co-operating fully" with RCMP and labour investigators.

"We are aware there's been a fatality on one of our work sites. This is a terrible tragedy," she said, adding that the department can't comment further as the incident is under investigation.
