Neighbours of the trailer said no one had been there for the past few days.

Melissa Dawn Peacock hasn't been seen since Nov. 7.

The Mounties announced Friday that the Southwest Nova Major Crime Unit had taken the lead on the 20-year-old's missing person investigation.

On Thursday, RCMP began searchingthe property onDouglas Road.

Peacock left her Dartmouth house on Nov. 7 and was last seen in the Lower Sackville and Beaver Bank area later that same night.

Investigators believe she was in a vehicle travelling north on Highway 354 after midnight on Nov. 8. Her cellphone signal was tracked to the Gore area of Hants County about 30 minutes later.

Peacock's mother, Ruth Slauenwhite, has told CBC News she received a troubling text from her daughter that night about going to "the country" for the evening.

There's been no word from her since.

Peacock is described as a light-skinned black woman, weighing about 105 pounds with brown, curly mid-length hair and hazel eyes.

"Melissa has been known to go missing but it is unusual for her not to be in contact with her family and friends for this extended period of time," the RCMP said in a release.

"Based on that information, investigators must be open to the possibility that Melissa may have met with foul play."
