Nova Scotian actor Walter Borden was named a member of the Order of Canada by Governor GeneralMichalle Jean in 2006.

The ceremony took place in Ottawa and Jean spoke of Borden's many accomplishments and contributions to theatre in Canada.

Jean said his "dynamic presence and unforgettable voice have touched audiences across the country."

The acclaimed actor, playwright and poet was born in New Glasgow, N.S., in 1942.
