45-km stretch of Hwy. 401 reopened after Friday crash

The eastbound lanes of a 45-km stretch of Highway 401 in eastern Ontario reopened overnight after a fatal crash and a serious rollover of a commuter bus on Friday.

A45-km stretch of Highway 401 in eastern Ontarioreopened overnightfollowing a fatal crash and a commuter bus crash on Friday, Ontario Provincial Police say.

A 57-year-old man from Ottawa died in a crash west of Prescott, Ont., which happened just before 10 a.m.Friday on the highway's eastbound lanes, about one kilometre west of the Prescott off-ramp.

The crash victim was the sole occupant of a 2005 Pontiac Sunfire, but his name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Driver seriously injured after bus rollover

Police said there were multiple collisions on the highway asthe winter storm reduced visibility and made for dangerous road conditions.

OPP had earlier reported a second fatal crash, but there were no fatalities, according to OPP east region spokeswoman Sgt. Kristine Rae. That crash involved aneastbound commuter bus, whichrolled over near Brockvillearound 12:20 p.m.

OPP said the driver was seriously injured, with some of the 38 passengers suffering minor injuries.

Eastbound lanes of Highway 401 are closed fromthe Long Beachoff-ramp to the off-ramp in Cardinal, Ont. A collision also closed westbound lanes near Mallorytown, Ont.

Police are advising peoplenot to driveif possible.

67's game pushed back a day due to weather

The Ottawa 67'sannounced Friday its game against Windsor at 7 p.m. has been rescheduled to Saturday at 7:30. p.m.

The Windsor Spitfires also tweeted a warning to their fans who had planned to travel to Ottawa about the bad conditions.

Tickets for Friday's game can be used Saturday or exchanged for another 67's home game.

That means the 67's will play a few hours after the Ottawa Senators vacate Scotiabank Place. Their game against the Winnipeg Jets starts at 2 p.m.
