Woman facing drug charges in connection to ByWard Market shooting

A woman has been charged with drug offences in connection with the investigation of a shooting in the ByWard Market in early October, police say.

A woman has been charged with drug offences in connection with the investigation of a shooting in the ByWard Market in early October, police say.

A 27-year-old man was shot multiple times near the cornerof George Street andByWardMarket Square around 3 a.m. Oct. 2.

He was taken to hospital in critical condition but survived.

Two men, a 28-year-old and a 31-year-old,were later charged with attempted murder, possession of a loaded firearm and careless use of a firearm, among other weapons charges.

The older man was also charged with carrying a concealed firearm and possessing crack cocaine andamphetamines for the purpose of trafficking. The younger man was also charged with possessing cocaine, crack cocaine and ecstasy for the purpose of trafficking.

Police announced Friday that a 25-year-old womanis charged with three counts of possessing drugs for the purpose of trafficking, plus charges of drug possession and obstructing police.

She was released from custody on a promise to appear in court at a later date.
