Capital Pride 2017: Parade to close roads in downtown Ottawa Sunday

Planning to travel in a vehicle in downtown Ottawa Sunday? Best to avoid the area in a vehicle altogether, but if you can't, here's a list of road closures.

Planning to travel in a vehicle in downtown Ottawa Sunday? Best to avoid the area altogether, but if you can't, here's a list of road closures.

For anyone planning to head downtown for the parade, there are a number of road closures to watch out for as the parade makes its way from Gladstone Avenue and Kent Street to Bank Street and Somerset Street West for the community fair.

Several OC Transpo routes are also affected. Routes 6, 7, 11, and 14 will be detoured from Sunday at 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Monday.

Road closures

From7 a.m. to3 p.m.:

  • Bank Street will be closed in both directionsbetween Catherine Street and Gladstone Avenue.
  • Gladstone Avenuewill be closed inboth directionsbetween O'Connor Street and Kent Street.
  • O'Connor Street will be closed inboth directions between Gladstone Avenue and MacLaren Street.

From 12:30 to 4 p.m.:

  • Gladstone Avenue will be closedbetween Lyon Street and Kent Street.
  • Kent Streetwill be closedbetween Gladstone Avenue and Laurier Avenue W.
  • Laurier Avenue Wwill be closedbetween Kent Street and Bank Street.
  • Bank Street will be closed between Laurier Avenue Wand Somerset Street W.

Parking will be limited on roads surrounding the festival from about 3p.m. Saturday to 3p.m. Sunday and will be prohibited on the parade route from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Bank Street will also be closed Sunday between Florence Street and Somerset Streetfrom 7 a.m. until midnightfor the Pride Community Fair.
