Stittsville: #CBCStreetTalk in Ward 6

From Sept. 22 to Oct. 23, CBC Ottawa will visit the 23 electoral wards in the city of Ottawa to get the inside track on the issues people are talking about on the eve of the upcoming municipal election.

StittsvilleWardis a suburban area in the far west end of Ottawa. Its boundaries are as far west as Walker Road, and as far south as Flewellyn Road. It is bounded by Highway 417 to the north and the Carp River to the east.

In the 2010 municipal election45per cent of eligible voters turned out to vote- in line with the city wide average of 44 per cent.

The CBC Street Talk team was in the ward Friday October 3 at the shopping plaza at Main Street and Hazeldean Road, near the Tim Hortons. We asked:what would make your neighbourhood a better place to live?

Shad Qadri, the incumbent, is running for his third city council term. Qadri won a stunning 91.5 per cent of the vote in the 2010 election. David Lee, a local businessman, who filed his nomination papers on the last possible day, is hoping to unseat Qadri.

CBC Ottawa asked all the candidates running for city council to record a 1-minute pitch and tell voters why they think they're the best candidate for their ward. The pitches below are from those who participated in this project.
