Key COVID-19 numbers in the Ottawa area today

Ottawa Public Health (OPH) recorded 180 new cases ofCOVID-19 on Thursday and sixmore fatalities, marking the deadliest dayof the pandemic since late May.

Today's Ottawa update

Ottawa Public Health (OPH) recorded 180 new cases ofCOVID-19 on Thursday and sixmore fatalities, marking the deadliest dayof the pandemic since late May.

OPH has declared 175 morecases resolved.

The infection rate in Ottawa roseto record levels after Christmas, but has started to decline.

Thecurrent lockdownin eastern Ontario went into effect Dec. 26, and is scheduled tolast until Feb. 11.A provincial stay-at-home orderis also in effect.

Across the region

Renfrew County's health unit is reporting the area's second death from COVID-19. It has just five known activecases.

Health authorities in western Quebec arereporting 19 new cases of COVID-19 and no more deaths.

Quebec's lockdownlasts until Feb. 8. Itincludes an 8 p.m. curfewthatwent into effect on the weekend.
