Ottawa bus driver praised for helping passengers board during Tuesday snowstorm

An Ottawa bus driver who stood in a snowbank to help people board during this week's snowstorm and whose efforts were captured on video will be rewarded for his act of generosity.

An Ottawa bus driver who stood in a snowbank to helppeople board during this week's snowstorm will be rewarded for hiseffort.

OCTranspotweeted Wednesdaythat the driver, CarloDiFelice,will be receiving an"official commendation" after his actions were captured on a videothat has been viewed about 500,000 times.

A humble DiFelice told CBC Ottawa his actions weren't unique during the snowstorm, which saw 26 centimetres of snow fall on the city.

"It's not about me," DiFelicesaidWednesday afternoon. "It's about the people around me ... police, firefighters, everybody out hereworking their backsides off in a very challenging situation like that."

Thevideo posted onFacebookshowsDiFelice,who is wearing a dress shirt and pants but no coat,getting out of the bus and reaching out to passengers at the stop.

A voice heard on the video says the man "deserves an award."

Many of those who commented on the post seemed to echo thatsentiment, praising the driver for his kindness and compassion.

The post has also drawn some 14,650 likes as of early Wednesdayafternoon.

"Just goes to show there are still some kind people in thisworld. Hat off to this driver that's amazing," one person wrote.

"It is so nice to see such a simple act of kindness that is mostappreciated by all. Thank you bus driver whoever you are," wroteanother.
