Ottawa Senator Vern White says he is deeply embarrassed by the conduct of some of his colleagues and said it's hurting the reputation of the Red Chamber as a whole.

Ottawa Senator Vern White says he is deeply embarrassed by the conduct of some of his colleagues and said it's hurting the reputation of the Red Chamber as a whole.

The former Ottawa police chief, who was appointed by Prime Minister Stephen Harper just over a year ago, said he is disturbed by the damagethe senate expensesscandal has caused.

"In 31 years in policing there wasn't one time when I was embarrassed as a result of behaviour of one of the people who worked with me because of what they did," said White.

"There are some days when I'm embarrassed by what some people have done. I have to be honest," said White.
