History

The riding was established in 1952 and was originally called Glengarry-Prescott before being changed to Glengarry-Prescott-Russell in 1970.

It's a large, mainly rural riding containingthe United Counties of Prescott and Russell, the Township of North Glengarry and a part of the City of Ottawa.

The riding has a large francophone and bilingual population, with about 60 per cent of its residents saying French was their mother tongue in the 2011 census.

In the 2013 riding redistribution the riding's northwestern boundary receded slightly and a small area was lost to the Orleans riding.
