Ottawa police say they've talked to a man they believe witnessed the Saturday night stabbing on Elgin Street that led to the death of Jabeir Jemmie.

Ottawa police interviewed an 'important witness' Monday but are still looking for a suspect.

Ottawa police say they've talked to a man they believe witnessedthe Saturday night stabbing on Elgin Street that led to the death of Jabeir Jemmie.

The fatal stabbinghappened at about 2:35 a.m. in front of 360 Elgin St.,an address shared by the barsThe Standard and The Living Room.

Jemmie, 21,was stabbed in the stomach and was taken to hospital, but lost his vital signs en route, paramedics said. He was pronounced dead later Saturday morning.

No arrests have yet been made.

On Sunday night, Ottawa police released a still taken from a taxi camera of a man they called an "important witness" to Jemmie's death.

Police said Monday they had talked to the man, who is not a suspect, along with the taxi driver.

Police sources told CBC NewsJemmie was intoxicated at The Living Roomand becameinvolved in a fight inside. He was kicked out of the bar andbecame involved in a fight onElginStreet soon after, sources said.

The major crimes unit is leading the investigation. Jemmie's death isOttawa's fourth homicide of 2014.
