Wine and freeze: Ottawa grape growers dig in for winter

A local vineyard is in a race against time to ready 16 acres of grapevines for the coming cold snap.

Ottawa's frigid winter weathercan make growing grapes in the city a challenge.The low temperatures can damage the vines, so they have to be buried over the winter months and unearthed in the spring.

To add to the challenge, KIN Vineyards took the risk of growing a less-reliable vinifera grapeso it can produce VQA-approved wine.
