2nd-degree murder charge laid after Kingston homicide

Police in Kingston, Ont., say they have opened a homicide investigation after an incident Sunday night resulted in the death of one person.

Police in Kingston, Ont.,have charged a 19-year-old with second-degree murder for someone's death over the long weekend.

Officers responded to an apartment building around 2:30 a.m. Sunday near Cassidy and Montreal streets north of the city's downtownafter receiving reports of an assault, according to a Tuesday morning news release fromKingston Police.

A 34-year-old from Kingston was found with multiple wounds caused by an "edged weapon," according to a follow-uprelease.

This person, later identified asJordan Greene from Kingston,was taken to hospital andlater died of their injuries.

Police said 19-year-old Keenan Gould from Kingston was arrested on Monday, charged with second-degree murder and isbeing held in custody.

The victim and the accused were at a gathering at an acquaintance's apartment and were not known to each other, police said.Nobody else was injured.
