NCC looking for tenant for former Canada museum

The National Capital Commission says it is looking for a tenant for the former Canada and the World Pavilion in downtown Ottawa.

The National Capital Commission says it islooking for a tenantfor the former Canada and the World Pavilion on 50 Sussex Drive.

The building, whichoverlooks Rideau Falls, was built as an exhibition hall for Canada's role on the international stage but closed in 2005 because of poor attendance.

The NCC has been looking for a long-term tenant but said it wants to find a tenant suitable to stand alongside the embassies and federal buildings on Sussex.

On Tuesday, they took the search a step further by calling for "expressions of interest" from public and private groups. The deadline for interested parties to submit their interest is April 30.

"We are looking for opportunities where the use and the activities would support the significance of Confederation Boulevard, the Capitals ceremonial route, and would allow Canadians to have access to this site," said Roland Morin, a vice-president with the NCC.
