PC Lisa MacLeod re-elected in Nepean

Progressive Conservative incumbent Lisa MacLeod has been re-elected in the provincial riding of Nepean.

Nepean has been significantly redrawn, shrinking to 15% of the old NepeanCarleton riding

Lisa MacLeod, a party stalwart and effective communicator, may also wind up in cabinet. (CBC)

Progressive Conservative incumbent Lisa MacLeod has been re-elected in the provincial riding of Nepean.

With all polls counted, MacLeod has 45.2 per cent of the vote. Her closest competitor, NDPcandidate ZaffAnsari,has28.6 per cent.Liberal candidateLovinaSrivastavahas 19.6 per cent of the vote.

MacLeodhas served as theMPPforNepeanCarleton since 2006. The seat has a long history of going Conservative and has been out ofLiberal hands since PC John Baird defeated Liberal HansDaigelerin 1995.

Nepean is one of several suburban and rural ridings that were significantly redrawn. When the new riding of Carleton was created, this riding shrank dramatically to 15 per cent of its original size and is now comprised of the northwest corner of the formerNepeanCarleton riding.

The increasingly populousriding includes the neighbourhoods ofNepean, Bells Corners and Barrhaven.

Also running in the riding were:

  • James O'Gradyis representing the Green Party of Ontario.
  • Derrick Lionel Matthews is on the ballot for the P.O.T.
  • Mark Snow is running for the Libertarian Party.
  • Raphael Louis is running under the None of the Above Direct Democracy Party.
