There's no incumbent in Kingston and the Islands where the NDP won in 2018withalmost 40 per cent of the votes.

ThatNDP win was by about 6,000 votes over the Liberal candidate that had 27.5 per cent of the vote, while the PC candidate was nearby with 26 per cent.

This time there are nine candidates.

Shalea Beckwith, Ontario Party

The Ontario Party candidateis a trained pediatrician who worked at Quinte Health Care from 2013 to 2022 and was chief of pediatrics from 2016-2020.

She and her husband have five children.

Gary Bennett, PC

The PC candidate is a former mayor and councillor inKingston and ran in the 2018 provincial election for the Progressive Conservatives, finishing third with 26 per cent of the vote.

He has lived in the Kingston area his entire life.

The Liberal candidate represented Kingston and the Islands federally for the Liberal Party from 2011-2015.

He is a trained quantum physicist who also has a decade of experience working in finance in the U.S., France and Japan.

Stephen Skyvington, New Blue

The New Blue candidate runs a consultancy he founded in 2001 and is a former manager of government relations with the Ontario Medical Association.

He's worked in various positions in politics since 1988, including work in constituency and ministers'offices as well as volunteering in numerous municipal, provincial and federal elections.

Zachary Typhair, Green Party

The Green Party candidate says he is the first Gen Z candidate to run in Kingston and his focus is on engaging youth.

He worked as a front-line employee making minimum wage during the pandemic, which made him want to get involved in politics.

He has worked with local groups like the Kingston Peace Council and the Katarokwi Union of Tenants.
