Daily LRT closures until June 19 for maintenance work

OC Transpo is partially closing the Confederation Line from June 5 to 19 for maintenance, including work on the tunnel lining, track and overhead power system.

R1 buses will run 'frequently' during the closures

OC Transpo is partially closing the Confederation Line from June 5 to 19 for maintenance, including work on the tunnel lining, track and overhead power system.

The closureswereannounced in a May 23 memo, and followtwo earlier weekend shutdowns to examine and work on water leaks inthe tunnelunder Ottawa's downtown.

R1 buses will run "frequently" alongside the rail line during the closures, according to the city. These buses don't go to Cyrville station, with a shuttle from St-Laurent station instead.

Along with those reasons above, crews will also removeplants, cleanglass and art, repairtile and removepaint, according to the memo.

A section of Highway 174 was closed the weekend of June 10 for crews to carry out other work as part of Stage 2 of the LRT project, includingbridge waterproofing, utility work, storm sewer crossings and other roadwork.

When and where are R1 buses running?

The full line won't close for this work, the city said, but the work will always affect at least part of the tunnel between uOttawa and Pimisi stations.

There is no scheduled maintenance for June 15. Service should returnto normal June 20.

While trains will sometimes travel one stop further than where the bus is offered, R1 buses will run June 19between Lyon and Hurdman5 a.m. to 8 p.m., then between Lyon and Blair.

The previous closures were:

  • June 5between Tunney's Pasture and Hurdman starting at 8 p.m.
  • June 6between Lyon and Blair starting at 8 p.m.
  • June 7between Lyon and Blair starting at 8 p.m.
  • June 8between Tunney's Pasture and Hurdman starting at 8 p.m.
  • June 9between Lyon and Hurdman5 a.m. to 8 p.m., then between Lyon and Blair.
  • June 10between Lyon and Hurdman6 a.m. to 8 p.m.,then between Tunney's Pastureand Hurdman.
  • June 11 between Lyon and Hurdman8 a.m. to 8 p.m.,then betweenTunney's Pasture and Hurdman.
  • June 12between Lyon and Hurdman5 a.m. to 8 p.m., then betweenTunney's Pasture and Hurdman.
  • June 13between Tunney's Pasture and Rideau starting at 8 p.m.
  • June 14between Blair and Rideau starting at 8 p.m.
  • June 15no maintenance is scheduled.
  • June 16between Lyon and Hurdman5 a.m. to 8 p.m.,then between Lyon and Blair.
  • June 17between Lyon and Hurdman6 a.m. to 8 p.m., then betweenLyon and Blair
  • June 18between Lyon and Hurdman8 a.m. to 8 p.m., then betweenLyon and Blair
