Just a few days before nominations forthis election closed last month, it looked like incumbent Laura Dudas might be acclaimed.

In the end, the incumbent fought offlast-minute challengersLori Stinson, a teacher and small business owner, and former public servant Chris FraserinOrlans West-Innes.

Dudas was a journalist and worked in city communications before becoming a city councillor. In 2018, she beat out three opponents with 41 per cent of the votes cast in Innes, as it was then called.

Ward 2 is one of several that were redrawn and renamed ahead of the2022 election.

For this campaign, Dudas's priorities included road repairs, growing the tree canopy after May's derecho, and expanding winter maintenance of pathways.

Fraser did not respond to CBC's survey of council candidates, but his website listed priorities including making more land available for development, neighbourhood recycling centres, and bolstering neighbourhood watch programs.

Stinson's priorities included increased public transit in the ward, improving Para Transpo, improving active transit infrastructure, and more affordable housing.
