Minister of middle class prosperity seeks re-election in Ottawa-Vanier

The Minister of Middle Class Prosperity will seek to keep riding red, the same colour it's been since the 1930s.

Mona Fortier won riding with more than 50% of vote in last two elections


Voters in Ottawa-Vanier have been at the ballot box to electamember of Parliamentevery two years since 2017.

But the riding, which containsa large Franco-Ontarian population,has been solidly red since1933.

Mona Fortier wonit with more than 51per cent of the vote last time around, and also won it in the 2017 byelection.

Fortier isthe minister of middle class prosperity, a new role created in 2019. In an interview with CBC Radio's The Current shortly after her appointmentwas made public,the Liberal MP defined her role as allowingCanadians to thrive bystrengthening the economy a prospect that likely looked differentpre-pandemic.
