Canada Day celebration takes flight

Historic planes will take to the skies over the National Capital Region alongside some of Canada's newest aircraft during Canada Day celebrations this weekend.

Weekend-long 'parade' of aircraft to include everything from vintage war planes to CF-18 Hornets

Historic planes will take to the skies over the National Capital Region alongside some of Canada's newest aircraftduring Canada Day celebrations this weekend.

The "parade of aircraft" will featureeverything from First World War antiquestoCF-18 Hornets, and will include an appearance by the Snowbirds, Canada's aerobatics flight demonstration team.

Almost 40 planes will pass over the region this weekend, and will flyover Parliament Hill on Canada Day.

Here's when to look for them:

  • June 29 between 3:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. restored First World War planes.
  • June 30 between 1:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. planes from the First and Second World Wars.
  • July 1 (Canada Day) between 12:15 p.m. and 1:40 p.m. older aircraftwill be joined by Canada's modern fighterplanes, including theCF-18 Hornet, painted red and white for the occasion.
