Ottawa police officer injured breaking up raucous Sandy Hill house party

An Ottawa police officer suffered minor injuries while responding to a loud house party in Sandy Hill on Tuesday night.

Party was happening on Henderson Avenue in Sandy Hill, police say

Five people were arrested after an altercation with police at a house party on Henderson Street in Sandy Hill on Tuesday night. One officer was injured and three young women are facing charges of aggravated assault. (CBC News)

An Ottawa police officer suffered minor injuries while responding to aloud house party in Sandy Hill on Tuesday night.

Police were called to the party on the 100-block of Henderson Avenue, near Osgoode Street, just before 9 p.m.

Two officers became involved in an altercation with some of the partygoersand more police were called in to assist, according to Ottawa police spokesmanConst. Marc Soucy.

A female officer was assaulted and went tohospital to be assessed as a precaution. She was thenreleased, Soucy said.

Five people from the party were arrested. Charges had not been laid as of Wednesday morning, Soucy said.

Ottawa police found drugs and firearms inside the home. (CBC News)
