A search in Gatineau Park has uncovered evidence that foul play was not responsible for the injuries of a woman found badly burned in a nearby parking lot, police said Wednesday. They don't believe anyone else was hurt in the incident.

Gatineau police spokeswoman Isabelle Poirier saidpolice now believe theincident was anattempted suicide.

An unidentified badly burned woman found in a parking lot near Gatineau Park in Quebecsparked a police search in the area after she was heard speaking of "other victims."

On Wednesday, more than a dozen police officers with snowmobiles and ATVs combedtrails that are popular for cross-country skiing and other outdoor activities. Based on the results of Wednesday'ssearch, police do not think there were other victims.

The woman, believed to be in her 20s, was spotted around 5 p.m. Tuesday in the parking lot of the CEGEP de l'Outaouais by two students working out at the quiet campus over March break.The school is located on Cit des Jeunes Boulevard, which runs along the eastern edge of the federally owned, 36,100-hectare Gatineau Park in the National Capital Region, north of Ottawa.

Beforelosing consciousness,the woman told the studentsthere were other victims in the woods of Gatineau Park.

The students called police and the womanwas sent to a local hospital withsecond-degree and third-degree burns to her thighs and upper body, including her face. Later,she waswas transferred tothe burn unit at Htel-Dieu hospital in Montreal.

Based onher statementto the students, police searched the area with police dogs until 11 p.m. Tuesday and then continued their search Wednesday.
